COPS BUST FOR RAPE OUT ON BAIL
SHOCKING details of how a cop allegedly convinced a rape victim (14) were heard in the Ventersdorp Magistrates Court, North West yesterday.
Angry residents protested outside the court as the cop applied for bail.
Kolisile Kolia, a senior investigator in the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, told the court how the cop and his colleague met four girls on a street in Tshing and exchanged numbers. He said the two men later came back to fetch the four girls.
Kolia said the cops bought booze and allegedly told the girls who were wearing jeans to go home.
They told the girls in miniskirts to remain in the police vehicle. He said the men then drove with the two girls to a lodge
“The accused locked himself in the room and forced himself on her,” said Kolia.
The accused’s defence lawyer, Paul Aucamp, argued for bail. He said the girl told the officer that she was 19 and that they had consensual sex. He asked for bail to be set at R3 000.
The magistrate granted R3 000 bail, on condition that the accused told his friends to stay away from witnesses.
